Proverbs 1:32-33

Prayer: Jesus, You are the epitome of wisdom. Solomon is only repeating what You have lived. As our human demonstration of divine living, may our close examination of Your words and life reap benefits, difficult but life-giving decision making, and sheer joy. But Lord, we have to put in the work of reading Your words for ourselves and asking You personally what they mean for us. Online or televised sermons can’t substitute for our personal study. Lord, we can’t ask for Your presence if we don’t where You are, who You reside with, who You stand with.

May we take joy in the privilege of mimicking Your holiness and righteousness making it our own and spreading it to everyone we come in contact with. Lord, the choice is ours. Help us make the right one and pick us up when we stumble on our wrong decisions and actions. But Lord, take the training wheels off and let us learn how to ride this bike ourselves. I’m tired of putting my responsibilities on You asking You to do them for me. Guide me, but allow me to go on my own. I pray that in our process of working out our salvation, we gain the wisdom and righteousness, just and loving demeanor of someone after Your heart with reckless abandon of everything else we used to rely on. It’s in Your name I pray for Your heart one day, Amen.
