Proverbs 1:13-14

Prayer: God, when I become wrapped in what I don’t have, help me see that I’m going down the wrong path and give me the courage and strength to turn away from it. Lord, the “good life” is so tempting. There are tons of things I could be doing or being involved in that I choose not to because I know it is not good for me; help me continue to turn away from them and forgive me when I’ve done so with anger in my heart, complaining on my tongue and bitterness in my soul.

Close my eyes and ears to things that are not of You. It’s tempting to hear the propaganda for an easier life and the sales pitches to ignore that person or this principle because it’s easier for me. Lord, help me not choose the easy if it means harm towards others. Forgive me for the easy roads I’ve chosen in my life and help me move towards the narrow roads that are my set path.

Lord, help me choose to ignore the roads others have chosen. Forgive me for coveting the destination their roads have taken them to. It is extremely hard, but I don’t want to pay for bad decisions later, so help me make the right choices now. I can’t do this on my own; willpower isn’t enough. Lord, I need the power and the grace of Your Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, guide my every step in the will of the Father. I have confidence in Your strength acting on my behalf. I can’t always trust myself, but I trust You. Lord, help me get to a place where You completely trust me. In this place, I promise to give You the glory for blessing my life with the path You’ve designed for me to take. Just help me get there. In times of uncertainty with school and the future and everything, Lord, just help me get to the altar, lay my heart-aches before You and retreat into Your trusting arms. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
